Today, on September 27, the first group of lawyers-to-be from Riga Stradina University visited the Supreme Court.
“I hope that in the future we will meet as colleagues”, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court greeted students in court room of the Senate. The Chief Justice told students about himself and his post, about the court system of Latvia and work of the Supreme Court.

Till October 1, lawyers and other interested persons are invited to submit applications to participate in the international conference “The judicature of the Supreme Court and its role in development of legal thought in Latvia”, devoted to 15th anniversary of operation of the Senate and Chambers of the Supreme Court. The conference has been organised by the Supreme Court in cooperation with the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia and it will be held on October 15, 2010.

On September 3, on annual Judicial conference judges elected representatives of judges in the Board of Justice. This decision is important for the history of courts of Latvia, as the Board of Justice has been founded for the first time.
Judicial conference elected six representatives, according to representation of court instances that is established in the law “On Judicial Power”: from regional courts – the Chair of Riga regional court Sandra Strence and the Chair of Latgales regional court Andris Strauts, from district courts – the Chair of Administrative district court Ilze Freimane, the judge of the court of Tukuma district Adrija Kasakovska and the judge of the court of Bauskas district Aigars Sniedzitis, from Departments of Land books – the judge of the Department of Land book of Jurmala city Inara Jaunzeme. One more representative of the court – the senator Inara Garda was elected in the Plenary Session of the Supreme Court on August, 30.

The deputy of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court will be the Chair of the Judicial Disciplinary Committee, and on September 3, the Judicial Conference elected Pavels Gruzins for this post. All composition of the Disciplinary Committee is re-elected for the next four years, s term of office of previous Committee has terminated.

Latvian Judicial Conference on September 3, elected the composition of Judicial Qualifications Committee for the next four years. The management of the committee has been reassigned to the deputy of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, the Chair of the Chamber of Civil Cases Gunars Aigars.
