    The Board of Justice determines where judges should execute their duties

    The Board of Justice determined courts for new judges appointed in the post by the Saeima (the Parliament) on the 13th of October to execute their duties: for Agnese Svike it is court of Latgales district of Riga city, for Andris Vasilevskis it is court of Ziemelu district of Riga city, and for Diana Makarova it is Riga court house of Administrative district court.
    The Board of Justice instructed Indra Meldere, the judge of Administrative district court, to execute duties of the judge of Administrative regional court during temporary absence of the judge.

    The senator Kalvis Torgans reports in a World Congress of Latvian Scientists

    Today, on the 25th of October, Kalvis Torgans, the senator of the Supreme Court, Dr.hab.iur., lecturer of the UL reports about difference between responsibility of legal entity and civil legal responsibility of a public person, at the United 3rd World Congress of Latvian Scientists and 4th Letonica Congress “Science, Society and National Identity”.
    Kalvis Torgans not only reports at the World Congress of Latvian Scientists, but also runs one of sessions in section “Politics and Law”. The session is named “Sustainable development of Law and Legal Practice”.

    The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court participates in General Assembly of the Network of the Presidents of the Supreme Judicial Courts of the EU

    Today, on the 13th of October, Ivars Bickovics, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, participates in general Assembly of the Network of the Presidents of the Supreme Judicial Courts of the European Union) that takes place in Sophia, Bulgaria.
    The General Assembly will have to elect new members of the Board and the President of the Network.
    Presidents of the Supreme Courts will also discuss participation of the Network in work of European Law Institute in status of observer and in expert groups for law development. However, they will also decide about content and time of arrangement of the next colloquium of the Network.
