On January 27, the Department of Civil Cases of the Senate, while reviewing the cassation claim of “TV Rīga”, cancelled the verdict of Riga regional court of November 13, 2008, and sent the case for a new review to the same court in different composition of the court. The Senate believes that Apellation court didn’t review a claim of appeal submitted in full, and the decision should be cancelled due to imperfections of motives of the decision. The complete decision of the Senate will be available after February, 10.

The Chamber of Civil Cases of the Supreme Court today in procedure of appeal has reviewed the case about the claim of Dainis Gegeris against the Republic of Latvia represented by the Ministry of Justice about compensation of moral harm and the shorten sentence will be announced on February 9 at 9.50 a.m.

The Chamber of Civil Cases of the Supreme Court today has terminated the litigation in the case about the claim of Dzintars Jaundzeikars against Linda Murniece about cancellation of information injuring priede and reputation and recovery of property compensation. The litigation has been terminated due to settlement signed between parties. The ancillary complaint about decision of the court may be submitted in 10 days.

On January 19, the Department of Criminal Cases of the Senate in oral proceedings reviewed cassation claim, submitted by the advocate of Ivans Krestjancevs and cancelled decisions of the court of the first and second instance about termination of criminal proceedings, sending case for new review in order to decide about possibility to rehabilitate the defunct.

On January 5, the Department of Administrative Cases of the Senate made the ancillary decision, turning the attention of the Ministry of Justice about the necessity to regulate legal influence of submitting to the administrative court the claim of the credit institution about the inquiry the State Revenue Service about classified data in hand of the credit institution to the action (execution) of the inquiry of data of the State Revenue Service.
