On May 20, the Chamber of Civil Cases of the Supreme Court has rejected the claim of Gaida Velde to The Republic of Latvia in a person of the Ministry of Transportation with third party public company “Starptautiska lidosta “Riga”” JSC about recovery of compensation in amount of 882 700 LVL and percents in amount if 529 620 LVL for a land expropriated at its time for needs of the airport “Riga”. The Court of Appeal had reviewed case in a court hearing on May 6 due to claim submitted by G. Velde. The full decision of the Court of appeal will be available after June 4, and then participants of the case will be able to appeal against it in the Senate in 30 days.

On May 11, the Chamber of Civil Cases has recovered from Republic of Latvia in person of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Latvia and National Fire and Life-Saving Service (NFLSS) for Toms Putns a compensation for mutilation, in amount of 15 000 LVL, for moral harm – in amount of 15 000 LVL, medical expenses in amount of 1541,13 LVL and court expenses in amount of 7,98, in total amount of 31 549,11 LVL in relation to tragic accident in Talsi on June 28, 1997, when in a festival, organised by MI, basket of autolift fell, and 21 children, inter alia, Toms Putns were injured. In rest part the claim has been rejected. The Court of Appeal had reviewed the case in closed court hearing on April 27. Full decision of the Court of appeal will be available after May 25, and participants of the case will be able to appeal against it in the Senate of the Republic of Latvia in 30 days.
