The Plenary Session of the Supreme Court re-elected Peteris Dzalbe, the Chair of the Department of Criminal Cases, to the office of a representative of judges to the Central Election Committee. Being elected repeatedly, Peteris Dzalbe has discharged these duties since 2009.

In accordance with the law “On the Central Election Commission”, the Central Election Commission consists of nine members. The Chair and seven members of the Commission are elected by the Saeima (Parliament), and one member is elected from among judges by the Supreme Court at its Plenary Session. Elections must be held not later than six months after the convocation of the new Saeima.

Inara Garda, the judge of the Department of Civil Cases, is re-elected to the office of the Secretary of the Plenary Session of the Supreme Court. Being elected repeatedly, she has discharged these duties since 2009.

In accordance with the Manual of the Plenary Session, the Secretary of the Plenary Session is elected from among judges of the Supreme Court for three years. The Secretary of the Plenary Session elaborates projects of agenda and decisions of the Plenary Session, summarises proposals expressed at the Plenary Session, counts votes in open vote and prepares minutes of the Plenary Session.
