Summer is time of travelling and vacations, when the Supreme Court is visited not only by official delegations, but also by colleagues from other countries that have come to Latvia individually.

On the 5th of July Robert S. Smith, the judge of Court of Appeals of State of New York visited the Supreme Court. He had meeting and very interesting professional conversation with Gunars Aigars, the deputy of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and the Chair of the Chamber of Civil Cases and Valerijans Jonikans, the senator of the Department of Civil Cases of the Supreme Court.

The judge and his wife with great interest got acquainted with history of Latvia’s Supreme Court, visiting the museum and walking in the Palace of Justice.

Smiths’ son has married Latvian girl, and respecting homeland of their daughter-in-law, Smiths have studied Latvian language a bit. After meeting in the Supreme Court their vocabulary was extended by several new legal terms.
