The Supreme Court has started to implement the project “The role of judge assistants in effective work organization of the Supreme Court”. The project prepared by the Administration of the Supreme Court of Latvia has received support by the Nordic and Baltic Mobility Programme for Public Administration.

The aim of the project is to ensure the exchange of experience between judge assistants of the Supreme Court of Latvia and the Supreme Courts of the Nordic countries. Within the framework of the project, judge assistants will visit Supreme Courts of Sweden, Finland, Norway and Iceland. During the visits, judge assistants will discuss innovative ways to support the work of a judge, the competence and role of judge assistants in ensuring the quality of decisions, as well as various techniques for writing decisions. The project will ensure the exchange of good practice in the efficient handling of cases in the Supreme Courts, thus increasing proficiency of judge assistants and promoting co-operation between the Supreme Courts of Latvia and the Nordic countries.

On Monday, October 7, Sanita Jefimova, Assistant to the Chair of the Department of Criminal Cases, Madara Senbruna, Judge assistant of the Department of Administrative Cases, and Reinis Odins, Legal research counsel of the Department of Civil Cases, paid the first visit to the Supreme Court of Iceland.
