Vanda Cirule has been appointed for the post of the senator of the Department of Civil Cases of the Senate

This week Vanda Cirule started her work in the post of the Senator of the Department of Civil Cases of the Senate. The decision about appointment of Vanda Cirule, the judge of the Chamber of Civil Cases of the Supreme Court, for the vacant post of the senator of the department was adopted in general meeting of senators of the Department of Civil Cases of the Senate on the 18th of May.

Pavels Gruzins is awarded with the title of the Honoured Judge

The Saeima today, on the 12th of May, decided to award Pavels Gruzins, the ex-Chair of the Department of Criminal Cases of the Senate, presently the Head of the Division of case-law, with the title of the Honoured Judge. The Saeima gave the title of the Honoured Judge pursuant to proposal of the Council of Justice.

The bulletin of the Supreme Court: compilations of court decisions, reports of senators and public report on work of the Supreme Court in 2010

Continuing tradition of publishing the bulletin, which was commenced last year, the Supreme Court prepared and published the second edition of the bulletin, which will be delivered to all Latvian courts, other institutions of judiciary, as well as in libraries and higher educational institutions in nearest future. The first part of the bulletin is dedicated to legal practice, and the most topical conclusions are given by all departments of the Senate.

Marks of Distinction of the System of Justice are given for model, honest and creative execution of duties

On Friday, the 6th of May, 16 employees of judiciary, inter alia, Marite Zagere, the senator of the Department of Civil Cases of the Senate, Andrejs Lepse, the judge of the Chamber of Criminal Cases and Zigrida Mita, the ex-Head of the Division of Case-law of the Supreme Court, will receive Marks of Distinction of the System of Justice. For model, honest and creative execution of duties they are awarded with the Mark of Distinction of the 3rd tier.

The Plenary Session has elected V.Kakste in composition of the Disciplinary Court, and P.Dzalbe is elected as representative in the Central Election Commission

The Plenary Session of the Supreme Court on the 2nd of May elected Vesma Kakste, the senator of the Department of Administrative Cases of the Senate, for the post of the member of the Disciplinary Court.

Peteris Dzalbe is elected in the post of the Chair of the Department of Criminal Cases of the Senate and the vice-Chief Justice of the Supreme Court

On Monday, the 2nd of May, the Plenary Session of the Supreme Court elected Peteris Dzalbe in the post of the Chair of the Department of Criminal Cases of the Senate.
