Commentaries to Civil Procedure Law are published under scientific editorship of professor Torgans

Kalvis Torgans, the senator of the Supreme Court, professor, Dr.habil.iur., Janis Rozenbergs, sworn advocate, prof., Dr.iur., and Gunars Aigars, the deputy of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, the Chair of the Chamber of Civil Cases have prepared new commentaries to Civil Procedure Law. The book of commentaries published by public joint-stock company "Tiesu namu agentura" became available to readers in July. The first part of commentaries to Civil Procedure Law published covers general standards of Civil Procedure Law, it is, articles of Chapters 1-28; text of Articles 1-232 is published in the book. Other legal standards are also used for commentaries, taking into account amendments announced until the 26th of May, 2011.

Gunars Aigars, the deputy of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court participates in events devoted to accession of the President of the State

As Ivars Bickovics, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court was abroad, participating in conference of Chiefs Justice of Supreme Courts of European countries in Prague, his deputy Gunars Aigars represented the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court in events devoted to accession of Andris Berzins on the 8th of July. The deputy of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court participated in Saeima’s sitting that was called especially. In this sitting Andris Berzing gave a Vow of the President of the State and entered upon his duties. Ministers, foreign ambassadors and former presidents also participated in the sitting.

The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court participates in conference organised by CEELI Institute in Prague

Ivars Bickovics, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court participates in conference organised by CEELI Institute for Chiefs Justices of the Supreme Court in Prague from 6th till 9th of July. Issues of topical discussions of the conference were defined after questioning of Chiefs Justices of the Supreme Courts, and this time issues are related to transparency and corruption in courts, as well as relationships of judiciary with legislative and executive power.

The judge from the New York state visits the Supreme Court

Summer is time of travelling and vacations, when the Supreme Court is visited not only by official delegations, but also by colleagues from other countries that have come to Latvia individually.
