Collection of rulings of the Department of Administrative Cases of the Senate for 2006 has been published

This week, already the third collection of rulings of the Department of Administrative Cases of the Supreme Court Senate of the Republic of Latvia has been published.
In 12 sections of the collection 85 rulings of the Department of Administrative Cases of the Supreme Court Senate are summarized offering insight on tendencies of the Senate court practice of the last year – latest cognitions and development of the existing ones.
This time, the bulkiest part of the collection is dedicated to the procedural issues of law, especially the general conception of the administrative procedure – interpretation of administrative act and actual action, as well as public subjective rights. The collection contains also other topical rulings of the Senate on issues referring to evaluation of lawfulness of decisions adopted by various state management establishments and actual actions.
Novelty in this collection is the section “Rulings in cases which the Department of Administrative Cases reviews as the court of first instance”.
Valerijans Jonikāns, the Chairman of the Department of Administrative Cases of the Supreme Court Senate, and Ieva Mieze, consultant of the Division of Case Law, participated in preparation of the collections.
Introduction and resume to the collection are published in Latvian and English which will give a notion about the work of administrative courts in Latvia to persons interested in it abroad.
The annex to the collection contains 2 rulings of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Latvia in cases which were initiated upon application of the Department of Administrative Cases of the Senate, as well as 8 different indexes which will help searching for court cognitions and applied interpretation of law standards.
The collection was published by the state joint stock company “Tiesu namu aģentūra” in cooperation with the Supreme Court. The book has hard covers, 1023 pages, price – Ls 18.80. It is available in bookstalls of legal literature of the Court House Agency at Brivibas blvd. 34, and Raina blvd. 15, virtual library of VSIA “Latvijas Vēstnesis” www.vestnesis.lv, as well as in other bookstores.
