On Friday, February 21, the Plenary Session of the Supreme Court re-elected Ervins Kuskis in the office of the Chair of the Chamber of Criminal Cases.
Elections of the Chair of the Chamber of Criminal Cases were included in agenda of the Plenary Session, because five-year term of office of Ervins Kuskis in this position expired. Next term of office of the Chair of the Chamber of Criminal Cases will be less than a year, as in accordance with amendments to the law “On Judicial Power” the Chamber of Criminal Cases shall be included in structure of the Supreme Court until December 31, 2014.
Candidacy of Ervins Kuskis was repeatedly nominated for the office of the Chair of the chamber by judges of the Chamber of Criminal Cases.
Ervins Kuskis has been the judge of the Supreme Court since 2001. Previously, he had been the judge of Vidzeme regional court for six years.
