Judge Dundurs of the Riga Regional Court confirmed in the position of the Supreme Court Judge by the Saeima

On November 13, the Saeima (Parliament) confirmed the judge Arnis Dundurs of the Riga Regional Court in the position of the Supreme Court Judge. 74 parliamentarians voted for the confirmation of Dundurs, 1 voted against, 3 – abstained.
The structural unit of the Supreme Court in which the new judge will fulfill his duties will be determined by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
Arnis Dundurs was born in 1969 in Ventspils. In 1995 he graduated from the University of Latvia, Faculty of Law. At the present time he is taking the master course.
A. Dundurs has been working in the judicial system since 1995. Previously he held the position of the administrative judge and the judge in the Ventspils City Court, in the period from 1999 till 2007, he held the position of the judge of the Kurzemes Regional Court Civil Cases Court Panel. Since May 17, 2007, he was a judge in the Riga Regional Court Civil Cases Court Panel. In 2008 the judge was conferred the second qualification degree.
The Judicial Qualification Panel adopted the decision to approve the confirmation of Arnis Dundurs in the position of the Supreme Court Judge on October 17.
