In order to reduce the backlog of cases and the length of proceedings in the Department of Administrative Cases of the Senate, by the decision of the Judicial Council one senator's position from the Department of Civil Cases was reassigned to the Department of Administrative Cases for a term of 6 months.

The vacant position of a senator of the Department of Civil Cases was transferred to the Department of Administrative Cases for a period from January 1 to June 30, taking into account the statistics of the examination of cases in the Senate and the performance results of the Departments.

Therefore, there will be 12 senators in the Department of Administrative Cases, 14 senators in the Department of Civil Cases, and 9 senators in the Department of Criminal Cases.

A competition was announced for the vacancy of a senator in the Department of Administrative Cases, and Ilze Freimane, the judge of the Administrative District Court, received a positive opinion from the general meeting of the Department's senators. By the decision of the Judicial Council, she was assigned to perform the duties of a judge of the Department of Administrative Cases of the Senate from January 2 to June 30.

Ilze Freimane has 17 years of experience as a judge, 15 of which she also served as the chair of the Administrative District Court. From 2022, Ilze Freimane serves as a judge of the Administrative District Court. The judge has been interning in the Department of Administrative Cases of the Senate for a year.
