Senator of The Department of Civil case department of Supreme Court Imants Fridrihsons for contribution to development of judiciary system of Latvia is awarded by 1st rank Diploma of Ministry of Justice and „golden” nib. Award on a ceremonial event was present by Minister of Justice on 17th of November.
Senator has devoted 49 years working as a judge, 49 of which working in Supreme Court, first as a judge in Civil case panel of judges and from 1995 when plenum of Supreme Court had created a new judicial body, I. Fridrihsons was confirmed as a senator of the Civil case department.
I. Fridrihson has been specializing on family law, and on the case category that is correlated to complains on citizenship and migration matters. On these legal matters he has summarized judicial practice and elaborated projects of resolutions of plenum of Supreme Court.
In addition to judge work I. Fridrihsons has participated in many draft law developing working groups and was a co-author to many publications – Comments to Civil Procedure Law, Dictionary of Judicial terminology, Publication of scientific articles of Latvian University and others. Senator is a member of presidium of Latvian Child foundation and member of advisory council of Latvian National Human Rights Office.
I. Fridrihson is an active participant of Supreme Courts judge trainings, he has been expanding his professional knowledge, giving lectures and seminars in many institutes of higher education and in Latvian Judge training centre.
On Christmas senator is to celebrate his 73rd birthday.
