On Friday, June 18, at a solemn event at the Supreme Court the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Aigars Strupiss awarded five senators with Honorary Badges of the Justice System, which are the highest award of the justice system.

Peteris Opincans, Senator of the Department of Criminal Cases of the Senate, received the Honorary Badge of the 1st degree for his outstanding lifetime contribution to the justice system.

Dace Mita and Rudite Vidusa, Senators of the Department of Administrative Cases of the Senate, and Zane Petersone, Senator of the Department of Civil Cases of the Senate, received the Honorary Badges of the 2nd degree for their particularly significant contribution to strengthening the justice system.

Marika Senkane, Senator of the Department of Civil Cases of the Senate, received the Honorary Badge of the 3rd degree for exemplary, honest and creative performance of official duties.

"This award means that the justice system has especially appreciated and highlighted the good work of colleagues. This is not an internal award, but a recognition by the entire Latvian judicial system,” said the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Aigars Strupiss.
