The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and the Director of the Court Administration discuss the selection procedure and training of judges and other issues

On August 20, Aigars Strupiss, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, met with Andris Munda, the Director of the Court Administration, and discussed several issues significant to the court system.
The organizational issues regarding the electronic Judges’ Conference scheduled for the beginning of September, during which two members of the Judicial Council shall be elected from among the judges of the regional courts, were clarified.
The ensuring of the new selection procedure of judges approved by the Judicial Council was discussed. The topical issues of the selection of judges of the Economic Court were specifically discussed.
Possible cooperation in the training of judges was discussed, focusing on the most important topics, namely, on the effective management of court proceedings and on the improvement of the quality of rulings.
The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court was informed about the setting up of the working group on balancing the workload of courts and on the efficiency of the court proceedings. The participants of the conversation agreed that in the autumn the Court Administration will inform the Supreme Court and the Judicial Council about the progress of this working group, as well as about the progress made in the implementation of the E-case.
