The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court takes part in the congress of the International Judicial Association
8 September, 2008
To represent the Supreme Court of Latvia and the Latvian Judicial Association in the 51st Congress of the International Judicial Association, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Ivars Bickovics has left for Yerevan, Armenia, where the annual forum of judges of the world is held on September 8 – 14.
Since 1998 I. Bickovics holds the position of the President of the Latvian Judicial Association. He remains in this position also after he was elected in the position of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court this June, as the Board of the Judicial Association did not find it purposeful to convene an extraordinary meeting of the Association to elect a new President taking into account that in November the re-election of the entire management institution of the Association is expected during the annual meeting of the Judicial Association.
