On May 4, in honour of the 30th anniversary of the restoration of independence of the Republic of Latvia, the highest officials of the judiciary – Ivars Bickovics, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, and Ineta Ziemele, President of the Constitutional Court, as well as the Constitutional Court judges Gunars Kusins and Arturs Kucs laid flowers at the Freedom Monument.

This year, due to the restrictions resulting from the outbreak of Covid-19, not all highest state officials visited the Freedom Monument at the same time, but did so individually or in small groups. The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and the President of the Constitutional Court did so together, thus confirming the unity of the judiciary when ensuring the rule of law in Latvia.

The Supreme Court congratulates the people of Latvia on the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence of Latvia!
