On 30 December, Aivars Uminskis terminates to discharge judicial duties in the Supreme Court.
Since 2011, Aivars Uminskis had discharged duties of a judge for the term of a vacancy of a judge in the Chamber of Criminal Cases.
The judge Uminskis will return to his permanent place of work – to Riga regional court.
In accordance with reform of court system stipulated in the law “On Judicial Power” the Chamber of Criminal Cases is included in structure of the Supreme Court until 31 December 2014. Amendments to the Criminal Procedure Law in their turn envisage that district (city) courts are the first instance and regional courts are appellate instance in all criminal cases. The Supreme Court will further review criminal cases only under cassation procedure.
