To get acquainted with topical issues in work of the Supreme Court, on Friday, the 15th of February, Andris Berzins, the President of the State, will visit the Supreme Court. It will be the first visit of the President to the Supreme Court.

The President will meet managers of the Supreme Court – Chairs of Departments of the Senate and Chambers, and head of the Division of Case-law and the Administration. They will discuss topical issues, problems and prospects of work of the Supreme Court, on practical application of assessment of professional activity of judges and disciplinary responsibility of judges, as well as on role of the Council of Justice in legislative processes.

The President will also get acquainted with work of employees of the court, visiting chancery of the Senate and the Department of Administrative Cases of the Senate.

At the end of the visit, the President will take part in event dedicated to opening of constitutionally important edition “Comments on the Constitution of the Republic of Latvia. Chapter VI. The Court. Chapter VII. The State Control”.

During his visit, the President will be accompanied not only by employees of the Chancery of the President, but also by eight “shadows”, as due to visit of the President to Ireland, Day of Shadows for pupils, who were invited to become the President’s shadows, was postponed for two days.
