The Saeima on the 9th of December has approved Ineta Ozola, Lubova Kusnire and Valerijs Maksimovs in the post of a judge of the Supreme Court, at the same time releasing them from posts of judges of regional court.
84 parliamentarians voted for approval of Ineta Ozola, 83 parliamentarians voted for approval of Lubova Kusnires and 82 – for approval of Valerijs Maksimovs.
Ineta Ozola was born in 1960 in Liepaja. In 1984, she graduated the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia. She has worked as a judge since 2000 – in Jelgava court, in Riga city Centre district court, since 2008 – in Riga regional court. In 2008, the judge was given the 3rd qualification class.
Lubova Kusnire was born in 1955 in Bauska. In 1978, she graduated the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia; in 2010 she obtained Master of Law in the University of Latvia. She had started working in field of law in 1982 inTalsu Prosecutor’s Office; she had been judge and the Chair of Jelgava district court between 1987 and 1994, then she had been the Head of the Legal Department in Jelgava district council and the vice-Head of Customs and the Head of the Legal Department in Zemgale regional institution of the State Revenue Service. In 2006, she had returned in court system – in the Administrative district court, since 2008 – in Administrative regional court. The judge was granted the 2nd qualification class in 2009.
Valerijs Maksimovs was born in1965 in Riga. In 1989, he graduated the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia. He began work as a judge in 1990, in Riga city Vidzeme Suburb court, and he has been a judge of Riga regional court since 1999. The judge was given the 1st qualification class in 2008.
All three judges approved by the Saeima will work in the Chamber of Civil Cases of the Supreme Court.
