5 December, bailiffs Juris Kalnins and Normunds Korics, appointed by the Minister of Justice, gave an oath to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
Newly appointed bailiffs took up their duties on December 12.
Juris Kalnins was appointed to execute duties of sworn bailiff in Kurzeme Regional Court circuit No 8, and Normunds Korics was appointed to execute duties of sworn bailiff in Kurzeme Regional Court circuit No 9.
Sworn bailiffs are persons belonging to the court system, who are assigned to regional courts and discharged duties stipulated to them by the laws. In accordance with Section 29 of the Law on Bailiffs, a sworn bailiff shall be included in the list of sworn bailiffs and may commence the fulfillment of the duties of office only when he or she has insured the professional activity risk and has given the oath to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
