Veronika Krūmiņa is elected to the position of the Chairman of the Department of Administrative Cases

In the Plenary Session of the Supreme Court on December 27, by unanimous voting Veronika Krūmiņa was elected to the position of the Chairman of the Department of Administrative Cases. V. Krūmiņa fulfilled the duties of the chief of the Department already since September 17, when the previous Chairman of the Department Valerijans Jonikāns was elected to the position of the Chairman of the Department of Civil Cases.
In 1987, Veronika Krūmiņa graduated from the University of Latvia, Faculty of Law, in 1990 – the Institute of International Relations.
On December 27, 2007, V. Krūmiņa was appointed in the position of the Chairman of the Department of Administrative Cases of the Supreme Court. V. Krūmiņa held the position of the Senator of the Department of Administrative Cases since May 2, 2005. Till then she held the position of a judge in the Vidzemes District Court and the Administrative Regional Court, she worked as the director of the Department of Codification in the Ministry of Justice, the deputy state secretary in the matters of legislation and the deputy state secretary in the matters of courts, and she worked in the Department of Law of the State Chancellery, as well.
According to Article 44, part 2, of the law “On Judicial Power” the chairmen of the Departments of the Senate and the Chambers are elected by the Plenary Session of the Supreme Court, and the term of office of the chairmen is five years.
