On Monday, October 16, the Council for the Judiciary at the request of the Legal Affairs Committee of the Saeima (parliament) will continue to review the planned amendments to the Law "On Judicial Power", evaluating proposals that have been discussed and have not been agreed upon at the Legal Affairs Committee’s meeting before the third reading. These are issues regarding the length of office of a judge required for position of a judge of a regional court and for a position of a judge of the Supreme Court, as well as regarding the term for which a judge has the right to hold other positions.

The Council for the Judiciary will also consider the budget request for 2018 of district (city) courts, regional courts and the Supreme Court, as well as discuss amendments to the Rules of Procedure of the Council for the Judiciary.

On the agenda of the Council for the Judiciary there are also issues related to judges' career and other matters.
