On November 26, judges and representatives from the judicial training centers of Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan visited the Supreme Court. The persons responsible for the training of judges met with the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Ivars Bickovics and during the discussion were acquainted with the place and role of the Supreme Court in the system of the Latvian courts, its structure and history. Special interest was paid to the further training of judges, the competence of the Supreme Court in the professional development of judges of the courts of lower instances and the cooperation of the Supreme Court with the Latvian Judicial Training Center.

The guests visited also the Supreme Court museum.

Within the framework of the projects “Support for the Azerbaijan courts and judiciary”, “Strengthening of judiciary in Armenia”, “Reform of legislation and judiciary in the Southern Caucasus”, the representatives of the training centers from Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia visit Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. The projects are implemented with the support of the German Legal Cooperation Foundation.

During their stay in Latvia the delegation of the training centers of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia met with the representatives of the Latvian Judicial Training Center, the Ministry of Justice, the Court Administration and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
