As of December 2, Arnis Dundurs, the former judge of the Riga Regional Court starts to fulfill the duties of the Supreme Court Judge in the Chamber of Civil Cases. A. Dundurs was confirmed in the position of the Supreme Court Judge by the Saeima (the Parliament) on November 13.

Arnis Dundurs was born in 1969 in Ventspils. In 1995 he graduated from the University of Latvia, Faculty of Law. At the present time he is taking the master course.

A. Dundurs has been working in the judicial system since 1995. Previously he held the position of the administrative judge and the judge in the Ventspils City Court, in the period from 1999 till 2007, he held the position of the judge of the Kurzemes Regional Court Civil Cases Court Panel. Since May 17, 2007, he was a judge in the Riga Regional Court Civil Cases Court Panel. In 2008 the judge was conferred the second qualification degree.

From now on there will be 12 judges in the Chamber of Civil Cases of the Supreme Court. In total, there are 49 judges working in the Supreme Court.
