On September 23, the Supreme Court hosted a training session for judges of the Economic Court “Moot court conducted by senators” organized by the Latvian Judicial Training Centre. The training was led by senators Veronika Krūmiņa and Dzintra Balta.
Efficient conduct of court proceedings is one of the tools that helps to fully understand the circumstances of the case and successfully resolve the case. The court communicates with the parties and the public through the court proceedings. In this training, the judges supplemented their skills and competencies in conducting a professional, respectful and high-quality court hearing, shared their experience and listened to the suggestions and advice of senators.
When getting ready to take up judicial duties, the judges of the Economic Court have already participated in similar moot courts in both civil and criminal proceedings led by experienced colleagues and organized by the Latvian Judicial Training Centre. However, unlike during previous training, this time the new judges have already gained their first, practical experience in conducting court hearings, and therefore participated in the training already having a different perspective and questions about the role of the court and the management of the proceedings.
