Grounding on request of the Chair of the Administrative regional court to increase number of regional court judges and taking into account that two vacant positions of judges appeared in Riga court house of the Administrative district court, the Board of Justice decided to ask the Saeima (Parliament) to transfer these positions to the Administrative regional court. The decision is based on analysis of judges’ loads and coordinated with Chairs of both courts.
Statistical data of 2013 shows that in the Administrative regional court one judge received 103 cases, accomplished 129 cases at average, excluding ancillary complaints, but number of cases pending was 105 cases per judge. As to the Riga court house of the Administrative district court, these data are respectively as follows: 75 cases received per judge, 97 cases accomplished and number of cases pending was 55 cases per judge.
The Board of Justice urges the Saeima to increase number of judges of the Administrative regional court from 19 to 21 judges, and to decrease in its turn number of judges in the Administrative district court from 46 to 44 judges, transferring these two positions to the Administrative regional court and envisaging respective additional financing in budget of the regional court.
The issue was reviewed in the sitting of the Board of Justice on April, 28
