On May 25, the Supreme Court was visited by a delegation from Kazakhstan, which had arrived in Latvia within the framework of a training project implemented by Riga Graduate School of Law. At the Supreme Court, guests met with the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Ivars Bickovics. The Chief Justice presented the delegation members with the judicial system of Latvia, its structure and functioning, as well as with such important, topical issues as judicial reform, independence of the judiciary and the development of mediation. The guests also visited the Supreme Court Museum and the former Senate Hall, gaining an insight into the historical development of the judicial system.
Riga Graduate School of Law is currently implementing a training project for Central Asian countries, in which every month representatives from each Central Asian country visit Latvia and learn its experience on specific and topical issues.
The training project is funded by the US government in co-operation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia.
