Monday, 3 April, the delegation of the Republic of Turkmenistan visited the Supreme Court of Latvia. Guests met with the Chair of the Department of Administrative Cases Veronika Krumina and judge’s assistant Natalja Purina. The colleagues from Turkmenistan were presented with administrative procedure and rights of Latvian judicial system.
The Republic of Turkmenistan is now actively working on the development of administrative procedure and the related laws and regulations, so to explore the experience of Latvia in the field seems very important.
Guests with interest listened to the basic principles of administrative procedure in Latvia, and mainly got acquainted with meaning and understanding of the principle of impartial investigation, as well as the separation of administrative procedure from civil procedure, the types of claims and administrative jurisdiction regarding the observation of discretion. Guests from Turkmenistan particularly appreciated the extensive presentation and report prepared by Natalja Purina.
During the visit guests also visited the Constitutional Court and the State Revenue Service.
Turkmenistan delegation was composed of members of Parliament of the Republic, the Prosecutor General's staff, as well as other representatives of the authorities who participate in development and implementation of the administrative procedure. The visit was organized and financed by the German Society for International Cooperation (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)).
