Ivars Bickovics, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, participated in festive events dedicated to the Day of Restoration of Independence of the Republic of Latvia on the 4th of May. Together with other officials – the President Andris Berzins,

the Speaker of the Saeima (the Parliament) Solvita Aboltina and the Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis – the Chief Justice laid flowers to the Monument of Freedom.

The Supreme Court with amends received an announcement that in these public holidays the state award – the Cross of Recognition of the Third Class is given to Georgijs Kuznecovs, the long-term judge of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Latvia. The ex-judge couldn’t participate in award handing ceremony on the 4th of May due health problems; however, the award will be delivered to him personally.
