In order to make the search for Senate case-law rulings and findings more convenient for users, a video instruction "How to search for Senate findings by field of law?" has been created.
The video instruction demonstrates three ways for selecting rulings in the archive of Senate case-law rulings available on the website of the Supreme Court, namely via the list of legal acts, via the classifier by case categories, and vie the search engine by keywords.
The list of legal acts includes systematized legal acts of the Republic of Latvia and international legal acts, which are used for the reasoning of the Senate's rulings. The list of legal acts is shared by all three Departments of the Senate.
Whereas, the classifier by categories of cases or legal issues is unique for each Department. The video instruction shows that sometimes the Senate may have an opinion on a single topic, for example, on the rights and obligations of children and parents, in civil cases, criminal cases, and also in administrative cases. In order to get a comprehensive idea on the Senate's opinion on a particular legal issue, one must explore the classifiers of all three Departments.
Video instruction "How to search for Senate findings by field of law?" along with the previously published guidelines and video instruction "How to search for Senate rulings by the case number?" will be a handy guide to find the necessary information in the vast collection of Senate’s case-law.
