On Tuesday, September 22, the Supreme Court held a webinar on the organization of court work during the pandemic. The webinar was attended by more than 150 court employees from all levels of Ukrainian courts. The event was organized within the project “Use of e-Solutions in the Management of Court Work and Processes in Ukraine during the COVID-19 Crisis” in cooperation with the Court Administration, the Supreme Court of Ukraine and the State Judicial Administration of Ukraine.

This webinar, unlike the one organized on Monday, was aimed specifically at court staff, and participants discussed practical issues of court management and work organization. Sandra Lapina, Head of the Administration of the Supreme Court, Anita Zikmane, Head of the Division of Case-law and Research, Pavels Veleckis, Head of the Division of Information Technology, and Janis Supe, Project Manager, shared their experience. The webinar focused on the Supreme Court's experience in implementing flexible working hours and remote working, developing a reporting system, implementing security measures, serving customers during the emergency situation, and organizing work to ensure that all court functions are met during the pandemic. Ukrainian colleagues were particularly interested in Latvia's experience in using secure information technologies, when providing remote working possibility. There were also discussions on ensuring communication in conditions of restrictions, for example, remote broadcasts of the Plenary Session of the Supreme Court and the meetings of the Judicial Council, commencing communication in Twitter by the Supreme Court.

At the conclusion of the seminar, Natalia Bohdaniuk, Deputy Head of the Personnel Division of the Supreme Court of Ukraine, also gave a brief account of the Ukrainian experience and pointed out that such webinars help to get new ideas and better organize court work in emergency circumstances.

As reported, the Supreme Court has launched the project "Use of e-Solutions in the Management of Court Work and Processes in Ukraine during the COVID-19 Crisis". The project application developed jointly by the Supreme Court Administration and the Court Administration has received support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Development Cooperation Grant Project Competition. The aim of the project is to share with the colleagues of the Supreme Court of Ukraine and the State Judicial Administration of Ukraine the experience of using e-solutions in court work and process management during the COVID-19 crisis, putting special emphasis on e-elections, working time accounting and crisis management.

The project has received funding in 2020 from the Development Cooperation Budget administered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
